about

"Wandering" started out with me experimenting with LMMS's arpeggiator, until I settled on a 5th and used that to play an arpeggio. I then just went with it, using much less repetition than my usual fare.

"Dante's Booth" was my first attempt at making my own sounds using ZynAddSubFX (to make the string/accordion sound), and I still haven't fully gotten used to it. Dante's Booth in-joke in my cl

"Ode to George Betts" is named after the founder of the Autonomous Learner Model (and I'd considered using that as a song name too). It's calmer than any of the other songs.

"Why" samples the Star Trek episode "The Measure of a Man." I previously released this as the preview for this album, this time I added another part so it probably drags on for too long.

"American Magic" does something magical - it turns the dark, dystopian sound of "Why" and makes it into a game show song. Also, it samples "Star Trek: First Contact."

"Gradualism" is an experimental song in which I add different instruments, all playing the same note, for most of the song, and the focus remains on the rhythm. I don't like noise music, but I do like having nice rhythm.

"Still Using Windows 95" uses MinimogueVA for everything except for the drums (because apparently the VST didn't like being in the beat/bassline editor). It was really helpful in understanding the nature of the VST.

Lastly, "Proposal" is a medley of every previous song, and it even leads back into "Wandering."
